newmarket:

The interior design brief for our financial services client in Newmarket was to create a contemporary corporate workspace that was welcoming and warm.

We used square profiles for furniture and joinery to give a precise, professional feel while softening the space with wood, leather and textured & patterned carpet. The organic delicacy of the feature light and accents of colour offer contrast to the formality of the workspace.

Front-of-house was designed to be adaptable, with operable and pivot doors opening to allow flow between the meeting room, board room and reception lounge; flip top tables with seating on castors allow for multiple configurations.

While the flooring at the front-of-house has a residential feel, at the back-of-house it’s less patterned, while retaining texture and tones that soften. Along with planting, the carpet adds interest to an L-shaped open plan office area for some 70 staff.

Still sophisticated, the central kitchen’s yellow features offer a relaxed, playful use of colour. Slatted wood dividers allow light to penetrate through to the cafĂ©, helping retain a strong visual connection to the work zone from both sides and promoting the opportunity to connect and collaborate with peers.

Patterned acoustic wall linings and upholstered screens dampen sound. Individual offices were designed with angled walls and glazed sections between, to allow for a sense of connection and negate that corporate boxed-in feel.
