Introducing the new TRYP by Wyndham hotel in Wellington, a beautifully designed space that is sure to impress guests with its modern and sophisticated style. Working alongside Safari Group since 2020, the Outline Design team was tasked with creating a dynamic and luxurious atmosphere that would make guests feel at home while also taking inspiration from the Art Deco era and the clean lines of the Chicago Style architecture of the building.
The brief:
Our brief was to incorporate the opulence and elegance of the Art Deco era. To create a gangster speakeasy in the heart of Wellington that will entice and delight visitors with hidden gems incorporated into the design for guests and visitors to discover as they move through the hotel.
The Result:
The hotel’s lobby is the first thing guests see when they arrive, and we wanted to make a strong impression with this space. We chose a rich colour palette of gold, navy, and deep brown, creating that elegance the moment you enter the door. The use of natural materials such as wood and brass gives the lobby a warm and inviting feel. Large windows allow plenty of natural light to flood the space, creating a bright and open atmosphere.
In the guest rooms, we aimed to create a comfortable and relaxing space for guests to unwind in. Staying true to the Chicago Style of architecture and art deco, all the hard finishes include a palette of black, white and metallic. This is then layered with rich colours and fabrics in the soft furnishings creating a dynamic and inviting space. The bedding and linens were carefully selected to provide maximum comfort, and the use of soft lighting creates a soothing atmosphere.
We used graphics, geometric designs, and patterns throughout the hotel. These added to the “gangster elements” of the design in a unique and exciting way. This highlights the user experience and helps create memories that will bring guests back to TRYP Wellington.
We have used floor tiles in the foyers, carpet tiles in the hallways and meeting rooms, and pendant glass lighting to enhance the overall experience. These design choices are all influenced by the art deco style, which is known for its bold geometric shapes and luxurious materials.
Additionally, we have transformed the hotels existing cavity lift into a feature by wrapping it with kaynemaile, a material that sparkles and glitters, creating a captivating focal point in the hub of the hotel.
Overall, our interior design work for the new TRYP by Wyndham hotel in Wellington has been a great success. We have created a luxurious and welcoming space that reflects the city’s unique character, and we believe that guests will love their stay at this beautiful hotel.
